I have begun intensive investigation of the Vail area in regards to specific GIS and GPS data available. My goal is to model as close to a 1:1 of the actual Vail topography, roadways, infrastructure and more. Then, I should be able to mill to scale, my site. This is important in that I should be able to produce parallel tools in scale model form while obtaining 1:1 model relationships in digital form. Working back and forth between digital and analogue with, hopefully, a specificity of use and affect.

GIS TOOLS

GIS as a tool for development has been largely left to the idea of production knowledge and information infrastructure. While these uses as vital for evolving the role of municipal government and development into the future – they serve more as a construct on which reliable data to be extracted and utilized. As an ever growing array of government and private sources obtain GIS data, Architects are delivered an ever more precise construct on which to engage their ideas.
